SATMA Awards Honors Mama Sarah Obama…

10th Annual SATMA Awards Honors Mama Sarah Obama – Dube – Mbeki- Tutu – Kunene – Mngoma – Kunene – Mahlangu – Magubane and Izingane Zoma.

10th Annual South African Traditional Music Achievement  Awards ceremony brought together popular celebrities, government officials  putting everyone including KZN residents   in the spotlight at the University of Zululand – eMpangeni in KZN.

Celebrities such as Uzalo actor –  Mpumelelo Blose, actress Leleti Khumalo, Joe Mafela, Sinazo Yolwa , Selimathunzi presenter –  Sphesihle Vazi, Zuluboy , hip hop artists –  KO and Zakwe, Metro FM presenter – Chriselda Kananda, Ukhozi FM presenters – Ngizwe Mchunu and Bheka Mchunu, DJ   graced the red carpet which took place before  the starting time of the main event.

SATMA’s are delighted to have the grandmother of the US President, Mama Sarah Obama as the international guests invited to attend this year’s ceremony.

Obama received Founder’s Award for her amazing charity work despite facing huge battle in terms of getting  funding. SATMA awards decided to award Obama because of her contribution to the Kenyan community.

“As SATMA Awards we felt the importance of honoring Mama Obama because of the hard work she does for children. She is currently building a school in her community and we have decided to donate R100 000.00 ( KES 1,000,000.00) ,” said the founder of SATMA’s, Dr Dumisani Goba.

The donation will assist in achieving her dream and making a brighter future for every child involved in her organization according to the founder.

The First Lady –  Mama Sizakele MaKhumalo Zuma, Minister of National Arts and Culture –  Mr Nathi Mthethwa,  KZN Premier – Senzo Mchunu, North West Provincial Government MEC Tebogo Modise, CEO of Ithuba Holdings  CEO – National Lotteries Commission,  Eastern Cape Arts and Culture Eastern Cape- Pammy Majodina and Mayor  of Uthungulu Thembekile Mchunu and the CEO of National Heritage Council –  Adv Sonwabile Mancotywa was also present at the 10th year celebration.

Stage performances were done by the popular Isicamiya group – Ladysmith Black Mambazo – Hip hop artists such KO, Zakwe, Ifani, Zuluboy  as well as Maskandi artists such as  Dlubheke, Khuzani, Imfezi Emnyama, Shwi Nomuntu Ekhala ,  also overwhelmed fans with their astonishing live performances.
