The South African Traditional Music Achievement (SATMA) Awards were founded in 2006 and are the largest traditional music awards in Africa; celebrating indigenous music, culture and heritage. Currently, the SATMA Awards phenomenon is also the only one of its kind in Africa, where the core objective of the SATMA Awards is to empower local traditional musicians, artists and groups, to celebrate their indigenous music, for the preservation and regeneration of African heritage and culture, across Africa and her Diaspora.
