LICHATHAZI LIKA MAMZOMBA “UMHLABA UNGEHLULE”
After a beautiful and a successful event in Mpumalanga on the 27th November 2021. The SATMAs are grateful to all who supported the event mainly the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation (DCSR) Mpumalanga for always standing behind the vision and mission of the SATMA Awards and assisting the drive to always recognise and award all those deserving in each category across all indigenous languages.
SATMA Awards also aims to continuously unite different ethnic groups, celebrate, preserve, contribute to the growth of South African traditional music Locally and Internationally, developing and promoting our living heritage.
The SATMAs have already honored over 100 Artists and pride itself to have contributed towards the growth and success of many groups and individuals in the traditional genre through music, poet and African dance. SATMAs are the only Awards reaching out to different communities through its Road Show programs and to unleash potential and give opportunities to every South African longing to be on a stage.
Wherefore, Licathazi Lika Mamzomba “Umhlaba unge Hlule” the Siswati Artist was nominated in the Best Siswati Artist /Group category and Won by votes.
After a sedulous look into the matter, it was confirmed by the artist producers that Licathazi Lika Mamzomba is indeed a versatile Siswati Artist, though the song in question was done in isizulu and that should not have qualified him to be in the category because of his song choice “Umhlaba Ungehlule”.
Therefore, SATMA Awards would like to assure all supporters and South Africans at large that in hereafter this will be intercepted. We apologise for the catastrophe this has caused.
We would like to thank all those who voiced their concerns and we aver to take heed in every detail going forward.
