The 3rd Annual South African Traditional Music Achievement Awards
Maskandi group Ithwasa Langempela and front man Mtshengiseni Gcwensa scooped three awards at the third South African Traditional Music Awards on Saturday.
The group won Best-selling Album, Best Composer and Best Song of the Year awards and were presented with R130 000.

The 5th Annual South African Traditional Music Achievement Awards.
The deadline for nominations for the 2010 South African Traditional Music Achievement Awards (SATMA) has been extended to 31 July 2010. Through the nomination and subsequent voting process, the public decides who will walk away with the awards. The announcement of nominees is scheduled for Friday 13 August, the Cultural Carnival and Soccer Spectacular for 4-5 September .
President Jacob Zuma will on Saturday, 25 September 2010 attend the fifth South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMA) ceremony at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre in Durban.

The 6th Annual South African Traditional Music Achievement Awards were held on 1 October 2011 at Durban ICC. SATMA Awards was filmed at the red carpet for the traditional music show ‘Roots’ and grabbed the winners as they came off stage for a ‘post win’ interview for the program. The founder Dr.Goba also presented the ‘Best Compilation’ Award at the SATMAs.
In keeping with the theme of this year’s awards, Ndim Lo, The SATMA red carpet was in full Xhosa regalia, ndingumtshakazi wakwaXhosa. It was the last year hosted in the province moving to the next hosting province.

And the nominees was announced on the 18 August at the Walter Sisulu University in Umtata, with 33 categories

This year, a concerted effort between the SATMA Awards team, the Eastern Cape government, the National Heritage Council and the SABC was put into ensuring that discrepancies that were experienced last year were completely avoided to pave the way for a seamless showcasing of a world-class event.
“The Awards took place on the 4th and 5th October 2013 at the Buffalo Park Cricket Stadium in East London with a bigger venue, which could accommodate more than 5,000 guests, including the President of the Republic as well as many other VIPs and important guests from across the country” said judge Vuka Shabalala, the SATMA Awards Foundation president.

This year’s SATMAs hosted legends like Jesse Jackson – a human rights veteran from the United States of America, alongside Dr. Mangosuthu Buthelezi, Joe Mafela, Leleti Khumalo, Abigail Khubeka, Hashe Elimhlophe amongst dignitaries who attended this massive event.

The Annual South African Traditional Music Achievement [SATMA] Awards celebrated its 10th anniversary this year under the theme: I am African.
THE South African Traditional Music Awards (Satma) honoured international guests at its red-carpet event at St Michael’s Hotel, on Wednesday 30 September at 6pm.
The 2015 SATMA Awards is themed ‘I Am an African’. It aims to honour artists and achievers who have made an impact in the South African music industry and socio-political life in Africa and its diaspora. The organisers recently announced an impressive list of international guests for this year’s ceremony. They are Mama Sarah Obama from Kenya, grandmother to US President Barack Obama; Samia Nkrumah, daughter of Ghana’s first President Kwame Nkrumah; and Ilyasah Shabazz from the US, daughter of El-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz, better known as Malcolm X. The 2015 SATMA Awards will honour Mama Sarah Obama for the work she does as part of her foundation in Kenya to improve the lives of her people, especially children.

The 12th annual event is acknowledging and celebrating artists in the traditional music. The event is also expected to boost the local economy – with great economic spin-offs.
The greatest traditional music awards come as the Heritage Month celebration ends on Saturday, and on this event people from all walks of life are expected to attend wearing traditional outfits. And honored the 1st Maskandi Song of the Year (2016) winner Mroza, known for his hit song Sobulala uVan Damme.

The SATMA Awards are now running in the 13th year. Each year SATMA Awards use a different theme in ensuring youth engagement and involvement, this year’s theme is “Embracing your Heritage”. The awards were held at Mmabatho Convention Centre in Mahikeng in the North West on Saturday night.
This is an annual event held to celebrate and appreciate South African Traditional Music.
New artists stole the limelight at this year’s SATMA as many left the event as winners.

Mbombela(Nelspruit) – MPUMALANGA
Theme: Celebrating Afrika

Satma Awards will be celebrating 15 years of it milestone, also music made in the style of the people and various language groups of South Africa and The awards aim to eliminate tribalism and other divisive measures.
And the awards will be it first time to be hosted by Mpumalanga Province in Mbombela, formerly Nelspruit, is the capital of South Africa’s. It’s a gateway to Kruger National Park, home to elephants, zebras, rhinos and other wildlife. The city’s Lowveld National Botanical Garden features a man-made rainforest. Northwest are the prehistoric Sudwala Caves, with unusual rock formations. South, Umhloti Nature Reserve contains the Jane Goodall Institute’s Chimp Eden sanctuary.
